Chances are, you're thinking of residential interior design. The structures we use for living...the spaces we call home. But the truth is, the world of interior design goes way beyond the home. Designers are employed by all kinds of businesses to create spaces that are both beautiful and practical; cutting-edge and functional.

Did you know that Ottawa is one of the hottest cities in Canada for animation? Ottawa is home to 7 major studios, employs at least 1000 animators, and creates amazing content for iconic production companies, like Disney and Marvel.
And we're just getting started. Ottawa is quickly gaining a reputation for world-class animation talent. Local studios are getting more work, and seeking to expand—the only problem is finding trained animators to hire.

You've got a few different options in terms of design training and careers. You can go to university and complete a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture. Or you can focus on the inside of buildings and homes and become an interior designer.
Another option is to become a building design technician. This typically involves a one-to-two-year diploma program in drafting and design technology.If you're looking for a shorter training option, becoming a building designer makes more sense than becoming a licensed architect.

Susan Zirk was working a high-pressure finance job when she started looking around for other options. She wanted to do something with more meaning - work that actually helps people and feels rewarding.
Finally, she took the plunge and signed up for Health Care Aide training at Herzing College Winnipeg.
Now she's living a completely different life, working for a home-care company that helps seniors live safely and independently in their own residences.
