Community services workers (CSWs) play a very important role in society.

They work directly with vulnerable people who need immediate support, including at-risk youth, survivors of domestic abuse, refugees and people suffering from addiction and mental health issues.

Community services workers connect people with resources, provide counselling, and arrange treatment programs depending on each person’s needs.

It can be an incredibly rewarding career path for anyone looking to work with others and help address social issues.

Without the support of community services workers, many at-risk people would have nowhere to turn for help. CSWs make a real difference in the community.

In this post, we’ll show you six examples of community services worker jobs along with descriptions of each position.

What Exactly Does a Paralegal Do? Job Description, Careers, Training

Dec 7, 2020 9:33:30 AM

The first thing to know about paralegals is that the job description varies depending on where you live—and whether you are licensed.

In Ontario, paralegals can pass a licensing exam that allows them to represent clients independently (like a lawyer) for certain legal matters.

A licensed paralegal in Ontario can start their own private legal practice. They can represent clients in small claims court, traffic court, tribunals and for certain criminal matters.

In other parts of Canada, paralegals do not have the option to obtain a license and operate independently. Instead, their role is to support lawyers—as legal assistants or law clerks.

Ontario paralegals have a choice. They can decide to get licensed and represent clients independently. Or, they can become legal assistants (which does not require a license).  It all depends on your career goals.

In this post, we’ll walk you through the job descriptions of licensed paralegals and legal assistants, and the training required to get started in this field.

Herzing’s New Cybersecurity Training Program Now Available Online

Nov 3, 2020 12:20:07 PM

Cybersecurity is one of the biggest skills gaps in today’s job market. Canada is suffering from a major shortage with thousands of unfilled information security jobs.

The United States is short about half a million cybersecurity specialists, and experts predict we’ll have at least 2 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs worldwide by 2022.

Covid-19 has only added to the problem. As a huge segment of the global workforce shifts to work-from-home, hackers are taking advantage of remote network vulnerabilities.

Meanwhile, many cybersecurity specialists have been reassigned to IT support roles, helping team members get set up from remote locations.

The global consensus is clear: cyber threats are evolving at a faster pace than IT security teams can handle. We need more talent and we need it now.

Herzing launched a new Cybersecurity training program to meet this need, and help students take advantage of job opportunities in the IT security field.
