Technology has been playing an ever-larger role in education for years, and the pandemic only served to accelerate the trend.

There’s no doubt that technology has the potential to engage children and advance their learning. But how exactly can it be applied at the preschool and daycare levels? And what are the advantages and challenges that come with that?

In this post, we describe several ways of utilizing technology in early childhood education classrooms—and what you should consider before doing so.

Welcome to 2023. The passage of time reminds us that life is fragile and unpredictable. Mental health experts caution that while there are always things going on that are troubling, we must all strive to stay in the moment and appreciate what we have.

The software development field has changed enormously over the past two decades. Today, there are hundreds of different programming languages for various uses, the focus is on cloud computing, and agile methodologies allow for faster, more collaborative development.

Naresh Nagandla has plenty of first-hand experience with these changes. He’s been working in the software field for more than 15 years, in both development and teaching roles. And he recently became an instructor for the software development program at Herzing College.

We caught up with Naresh to learn more about his career journey and what students can expect from the course.

Cybersecurity continues to be a top concern for companies all over the world. Tech research and consulting firm Gartner estimates that global spending on information security controls and risk management products and services will total more than $188 billion in 2023—an 11 per cent increase over 2022.

So, given the growth in this field, what can you expect in the year ahead?

The global economy depends on getting products from point A to point B in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective way. That’s why people who specialize in supply chain management are in such high demand.

In a survey by the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), almost two-thirds of Canadian supply chain professionals landed their current position within three months of starting their search. What’s more, most of those individuals enjoy their work: in a separate survey by ASCM and Supply Chain Canada, 69 per cent of respondents were happy with their jobs, rating their satisfaction at least eight on a scale of one to 10.

There’s no limit to what you can imagine and create in the magical world of 3D animation, visual effects, and CGI.

But just what is 3D animation? It’s the process of making digital images appear to move in a three-dimensional space. A 2D cartoon animator creates flat objects that have only length and width; a 3D animator adds depth as well, so that the characters can move and rotate following the same principles as in the real world.

So how do you get started? In this post, we explain how to become a 3D animator, what career paths are available in the field, and what steps can best set you up for success.

Unless we opt to live on an isolated island, we will experience many relationships throughout our lifetimes. These include family, significant others, friends, classmates, colleagues, and a host of other acquaintances. Navigating these relationships can pose challenges.

As an experienced psychiatric nurse and instructor in Herzing’s Community Support Worker (CSW) program, Kim Melnyk was used to having lots of in-person interactions with students and people in recovery. She wasn’t the biggest fan of technology; she much preferred a more personal touch.

So when COVID came along and forced her to shift to teaching online, she had to make some major adjustments.

Initially, Kim was very much looking forward to a return to class post-pandemic. But when it started to occur, she found that it did not solve the problems she thought it would. Instead, she found herself doing more and more interaction online—and discovering benefits she had never considered before.

We spoke with her recently to learn more about her experience.
