It’s not unusual for the staff here at Herzing to get messages from former students thanking us for the education or support they received during their time with us. But we don’t normally hear from alumni who were around for the earliest days of the college’s existence!

Bob Orsini completed computer programming training with us in the late 1960s and went on to build a decades-long career in information technology. He dropped by the Montreal campus recently to say hello, so we took the opportunity to talk to him about how his experiences at Herzing shaped the course of his career.

We connected with Zouhir this week to get his thoughts on the training and how it shaped his career path. Read on for his story.

Daniel Dubreuil has made a career out of combining his passions for sales, technology, and teaching. An award-winning salesman, he embraced the power of computers early on and has shared his experience and expertise with hundreds of students over the years.

He has been teaching at Herzing for 25 years and was recently recognized as our Instructor of the Year—the third time he has received that honour!

Eric Colaciello spent a few years pursuing post-secondary training in social science and urban studies before realizing that path just wasn’t right for him. After doing some self-reflection and exploring the available options, he decided to strike out in a totally new direction—and enrolled in the online software development program at Herzing College.

He had no experience with either coding or remote learning. But he persevered, graduating in October 2023 and landing contract work with the same organization where he’d done his internship.

We spoke with Eric to get his impressions of the program and the online learning experience in general. Here are the highlights of that conversation.
