When Andrea Lopez moved to Canada with her family, she knew she wanted to pursue a career involving children.

She’d studied law in Mexico, but chose to put her career on hold while she focused on raising her two kids. Once they got older, she began teaching English to young learners and found she really enjoyed it.

So when she arrived in Canada, she looked for a quality early childhood education program—and found it at Herzing College.

Andrea finished the program in October 2022, immediately landed a job at a private daycare, and has already been made a team leader in charge of hiring other ECEs!

Our students enter the college at different stages of their lives. While there are younger adults who have moved from high school straight to Herzing, many others are returning to education having been away from formal schooling for long periods of time.

One of the first things to consider (regardless of which stage of life you find yourself at) is the following question: “Do I have a support network around me that I can turn to when necessary?” There are many different responses from students when they are faced with this question.

Herzing College started offering a Sustainable Architecture training program several years ago. This program offers an alternative to people who want to participate in eco-friendly building design, but don't want to invest years in university to become a licensed architect.

Our program trains students in the principles of sustainable architecture and the software and technical skills required to draft architectural designs.

Moncef Noual has been teaching the program since 2017—and was recently recognized as Herzing College Montreal’s instructor of the year! The honour reflects the fact that he really gets to know his students during their tenure with Herzing and goes out of his way to make sure they have the best possible experience from beginning to end.

When you think of a community services worker, you might picture someone helping out in shelters, halfway houses, or youth centres. A high school classroom probably doesn’t come to mind.

But that’s because you haven’t met Sarah Laham.

Sarah completed Herzing’s Community Services Worker program with a stellar GPA and fully expected to follow the typical CSW career path. Instead, she landed a position as an educational assistant in an Ottawa high school—and found it was exactly where she was meant to be.
